Crank Up the RV One Last Time This Summer

Can you believe it’s already August? It’s time to crank up the RV one more time for a quick summer trip that the entire family will enjoy. Del Hatt Automotive are experts when it comes to RV service and repair. Bring the RV into our shop for a full inspection and service before you hit the road to make sure you don’t end up broken down. Here are some other tips to make your trip even more enjoyable.

Map the Route

Map out your route and then map out an alternate route in case something goes wrong with the primary route. Make sure to check to make sure there aren’t any road closures or road construction going on on either route. Check the weather to see if you are going to end up stuck in a storm. If so, see if there is a way to bypass the inclement weather to keep you and your family safer on the road. Once you have your route mapped, provide your itinerary to a close family member or friend who isn’t traveling with you so they know where you are at all times in case of emergency.

Plan for Stops

Make sure to plan plenty of stops every day along your route. Stopping and getting out of the RV not only keeps you refreshed and your blood circulating but also keeps everyone in a good mood. Plan fun things to do throughout the day. Don’t just stop at rest stops. Stop and take short hikes, visit roadside attractions, or check out fun souvenir shops. Make sure that you keep everyone engaged in the trip by planning a ton of fun stops along the way.

Keep it Healthy

Keep it healthy. Don’t stop the RV with a ton of sugary sodas and snacks. Rather, keep everyone hydrated with plenty of bottled water, and keep hunger at bay with plenty of healthy snacks that are high in protein and low in fat. Caffeine and sugar can directly affect everyone’s mood, including yours. Foods that are high in fat also make you sluggish and cranky. Because you are planning plenty of stops along the way, you have plenty of opportunities to use restrooms, so drink plenty of water.

Maintain the RV

Finally, as we mentioned above, make sure your RV is as ready for the road trip as you are. Get it checked from roof to tires to ensure there is nothing that is going to leave you stranded on the side of the road.
